We got replies!

Last week Miss McCulloch in Culverden sent us a photo of her class with their cards.

They wrote us a letter back and today we received letters from the children at Amuri Area School!

Sophia and Tallulah reading their letters.

The girls sharing their letters.

Our letters from Santa also arrived today. We found them the same tree we put them in for the helpers to take to Santa. They even had a little treat with them!

What an exciting end to the school year!

Thanks for a wonderful year Manatu. We have been on lots of adventures and learning lots of new things along the way. I have really enjoyed teaching you all. Remember to always do you best.

Food for others!

Today we made some biscuits for people who need extra help around christmas. We used Miss McCulloch's recipe out of the Valley Cookbook. We all got to help do something and they smell delicious!

On Monday we will put them in bags with a tag saying Merry Christmas love Manatu!

Letters to Soldiers

On Tuesday our Random Act of Kindness was writing letters to a soldier who is away for christmas. This was a nice thing to do because they can't see their family for christmas.

Here some of the Manatu kids are making their cards.

Hugh and Kaushan writing their letters.

The girls working hard!

We will be sending these letters to soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, South Sudan and Antartica.

In our letters we said merry christmas, we asked them questions about being a soldier and told them something about us.

The letters have gone!

Today when Hugh arrived at school he quickly checked if the letters were still in the tree...

Kaushan went with him. They had gone!!
We are now a little worried because some of the Manatu children realised we didn't put where it was from on the back! Hopefully the birds know where to come back to... Fingers crossed!

Silver Fern Rally

Last week we had the Silver Fern Rally call into school as a pit stop on the Clutha Valley leg of the race. Hudson was our roving reporter and caught this on camera.

Santa letters!

Last week we wrote letters to Santa! Today we put them in the tree. Stuck onto the envelope was some bread. We put some bread on for Santa's helpers (the birds) need some energy!

Here is Hugh with the letters and bread crust!

Manatu with the tree.

Today Hud found this oak tree growing in the playground! He has replanted this into a pot in the garden club.

Random Act of Kindness

Our first 'Random Act of Kindness' was to send a letter to a child who was in an earthquake. Miss McCulloch's sister lives in Culverden and teaches the Yr 2 children at Amuri Area School. They all felt the earthquake and had two days off school while the earth was still moving!

Here is Rahui with our letters in the envelope waiting for the mailman!
We are hoping Miss McCulloch in Culverden will send us some pictures of the kids reading our letters.
